Al Festival di Woodstock (che, più precisamente, si svolse a Bethel, una piccola città rurale nello stato di New York, dal 15 al 18 agosto del 1969) furono presenti circa un milione di spettatori.
Trentaquattro i musicisti e gruppi che si alternarono sul palco.

...Sono le 9 di mattina del 18 agosto. Dopo il rinvio per pioggia della serata precedente, Jimi Hendrix (che avrebbe dovuto suonare alla mezzanotte) sale sul palco di Woodstock per chiudere, come da sua espressa richiesta, la manifestazione. E’ un’esibizione destinata a rimanere nella storia. Una delle più lunghe della sua carriera... Due ore indimenticabili... Come l’intero Festival.
